9 . Kabaddi



Origin: India / Bangladesh

How to Play: This game is a team game, with a team of 12 people (7 play and 5 reserves). The sport game played in the field as wide as half a basketball court. One of the team send attacker to enemy territory, and may not take a breath during the attack on enemy territory. He should keep muttering ‘Kabaddi’ over the opponent’s territory. The task of the attacker is touching all opponents without being caught. The touched opponent directly go out, but if the attacker was ambushed and dropped until out of breath, the attacker should go out. In 1975, a renowned Kabaddi players came to Japan, and according to the Japanese, the game is ridiculous, but since then, the Japanese became enamored with this game.

History: Unknown




8 . World Mountain Bike Bog Snorkelling Championships



Origin: Dirty Swamp in Wales

How To Play:Athletes should wear swimming suits complete with breathing equipment and mountain bikes to be brought into the dirty swamp. Race begins and ends at the same spot in the Waen Rhydd swamp, with a depth of 6 feet and 45 feet wide. Participants must ride the bike back and forth in this swamp. If you fall off your bicycle, you will not get any punishment value. The city where this unique race held is Llanwrytd Wells.

History: This sport game began in 2000 and started from a similar game: Bog Snorkelling Championships. This older game does not involve a bike.




7. Chess Boxing



Origin: Finland

How To Play: The main rule is this is boxing but also chess game. Matches divided by 4 Rounds, each 11 minutes that began and ended with chess. You can win either because you Knock Out opponent or beat your opponent in a chess table. Interestingly this bizarre sport has become an inspiration of Wu-Tang Clan on their debut album “Da Mystery of Chessboxin’”.

History: Initially a cartoonist from Serbia, Enki Bilal, starting a graphic novels with this chess boxing in 1992.




6 . Jai-Alai



Origin: Basque Region, between Spain and France

How To Play: Really similar to the squash, the difference is that squash use a soft small ball and not too dangerous, while at the Jai Alai the ball speed can reach almost 300 km per hour and the ball used is a hard ball. And well, the players do not use the racket, but used a wicker basket placed in the hands of the length of 25 inches. Like squash, players throw the ball to bounce on the wall, which was captured by the opponent’s basket in hand, and thrown back into the wall so captured by the opponent. 4. Buzkashi



Origin: Central Asia, Afganistan and Kyrgyztan

How To Play: National Sport of Afghanistan, Kyrgyztan and the countries of Central Asia, with two teams riding horses, that trying to fight a died sheep as a kind of ‘ball’. This dead sheep then trying be thrown into the box behind a certain line as a goal. This game can last several days.

History: Not clear, but it is considered as a sport to maintain troop morale remained high during the war.




3. Eukonkanto (Wife Carrying Championship)



Origin: Finland

How to play: The husband carry his wife on his back and run through a variety of special obstacles provided. “Wife” who carried it was not meant the real wife, the wife can be real wife, neighbors, or friend. Clearly there will be 250 meters long race, with two jump traps and two water traps. If the ‘wife’ fallen, you get punished for 15 seconds. Origin: Ireland

How to play: This game is such a mix sports of hockey, football, rugby and fighting sport. This game is played with sticks called hurleys or “camáns” and a small hard ball. Two teams each consist of 15 people trying to score by hitting the ball as hard as possible, at whatever altitude and as speedy as possible! The ball that hit hard can reach speed of 100 miles (160 km) per hour! But still, somehow the “hurler” (hurling athletes) don’t wear any safety at all.

History: Maybe this sport was once known as the ‘fighting team game’ which then somehow became a bizarre sport like nowadays game.




1. The Cooper’s Hill Cheese Rolling and Wake



Origin: Gloucester in the Cotswolds region of England

How To Play: 20 ‘athletes’ will compete after a cylinder of cheese rolling down the hill. The athletes climbing the hill to the top, and these athletes will pursue a cylinder of double Gloucester cheese, which is not too big, which rolled from the top of the hill. The pursuers had a chance to catch the cheese just 1 second after the cheese had been released. Winners of this competition is the participant who managed to capture cheese cylinder earlier. As information, the cheese cylinder can reach speeds of 70 miles per hour!

History: No one know, but this game is 200 years old
